A tree with a wide pyramidal crown. A rather slow grower, that, with a height of 8 to 10 m, stays smaller than the species. The green leaves have strikingly cream-white margins. The occasional branches with wholly green leaves should be removed promptly. Flowers and fruit are typical of the species. 'Drummondii' needs a sunny site and is suitable for use as a park tree. Requires a good top soil to grow and, moreover, is tolerant to peat. Good wind tolerance.
