Large tree with upright, loose branches that eventually spread widely creating a wide, fan-shaped crown. Height and spread circa 20 m. Unfurling leaf is bronze coloured. In summer it turns green with a grey-white underside that is lighter than of the species. The leaf is deeply lobed and varies in size. Autumn colour yellow. Shallow rooting with strongly branching main roots and fibrous rootlets. May push up hard surfaces. Tolerant to moist soils. 'Laciniatum' is a general name for many varieties with deeply lobed leaves. So, several plants with this name are for sale. Winter hardiness zone: 4
