The autumn colour is yellow brown. The soft bark is smooth and grey. Blooms with small, inconspicuous flower catkins. Small nutlets appear in autumn. Park tree and solitary. It prefers not too wet, well-drained soil, high in humus content. Less tolerant to hard surfacing. Moderate wind resistance. Winter hardiness zone: 6a
