Fraxinus holotricha 'Moraine' is a rather unknown tree with a spreading pyramidal crown. Mature specimen can attain a height of 10 - 15 m. The odd-pinnate leaf with 7 - 9 leaflets reaches a length 20 - 25 cm and the smaller leaflets are circa 4 - 7 cm. The leaf is dark green, underneath grey and hairy and turns golden-yellow in autumn. The tree sprouts late and is therefore well-resistant to late night frosts. 'Moraine' bears very few flowers and fruits and is therefore useful as a street and avenue tree. The species F. holotricha is native to south east Europe and prefers drier loamy and calcareous soil. Intolerant to hard surfaces and withstands air-pollution well, which make it a very useful tree in industrial areas.
