'Leikora' is a very strong-growing, substantial shrub to small tree with a broad upright habit. The branches are relatively thick and form many side branches. As a result, 'Leikora' forms a dense and compact, broad oval crown. The twigs are less densely covered with thorns than in the species H. rhamnoides. 'Leikora' is a female cultivar that produces many, relatively large fruits. These are deep orange fruits and drop to short cylindrical in shape, ripening around mid-September to late September.
The tree can be heavily pruned, but will then produce significantly less fruit the following season. Very suitable as an ornamental tree for mixed plantings, erosion control, in parks and gardens. To produce fruit, pollination by a male cultivar ('Pollmix') must take place. Hardiness zone 4.
