'Oakville Highlight' is a columnar tree with vigorous upright growth. Can grow 10 m tall and will then be about 3 m in diameter. The two- and three-year-old twigs do not form a cork, and the old bark, like other Liquidambar, is brownish-grey and grooved. The hand-shaped leaves are 5- to 7-lobed and relatively thick and slightly leathery. In summer, the leaves are a glossy dark green, turning yellow, orange and purple (red) in autumn. Autumn colour is highly dependent on soil type, soil moisture and local microclimate. Australian cultivar introduced in 2004 by Vic John Cicolella of Oakville, New South Wales. Hardiness zone 6.
