Top-grafted small tree with well branching, broad weeping crown. It grows to approx. 3 m tall. The oval leaves have a pointed tip and are glossy green on top, grey-green and hairy on the underside. The flowers are approx. 5 cm, pale pinkish, opening around early May. The flower buds are pink. The relatively large edible fruits measure up to 5 cm across. They are green-yellow with a red blush and edible. This old cultivar, introduced in 1886 by Baumschule Späth in Germany, is sometimes wrongly used as a synonym of M. pulima ‘Pendula’. A quaint tree that is very susceptible to scab.
