Morus alba 'Nana Issai' is a small tree with a round crown. The crown is naturally quite open and if a denser crown is desired, corrective pruning should be carried out. 'Nana Issai' grows about 3.5 m high, but as the tree is usually grafted on a tall stem, a small trunk tree is created. The green leaves do not produce autumn colours, nor is flowering very conspicuous. The fruits (mulberries), on the other hand, are attractive. Not because they are hugely conspicuous, but because they are edible. So it is a female cultivar.
'Nana Issai' is an easy tree that grows on all soil types. The tree tolerates a lot of heat and dry soil. Suitable for small-scale uses such as parks, squares and (private) gardens. Hardiness zone 5a.
