Populus x canadensis 'Gelrica' An old cultivar, dating from the mid-19th century, with a broad ovoid to rounded crown. The trunk is fairly straight to slightly tortuous and lightly coloured with dark stripes. The green leaves are triangular with a remarkably straight foot. In the autumn the leaves turn yellowish-green to yellow. Bears flowers in the form of male catkins. 'Gelrica' is sensitive to rust and leaf spot disease and very sensitive to bark spot disease. Not very sensitive to canker. The tree can be used for row planting and in urban and landscape settings. It is reasonably resistant to wind. Winter hardiness zone: 4
