'Hauszwetsche' is a plum tree with a semi-open crown of 6-8 m in height. The crown is round and slightly irregular in shape. The white blossom opens in April. 'Hauszwetsche' is self-pollinating, which means that no tree of another plum variety needs to be nearby for good fruit bearing. Nevertheless, the tree will produce more fruit after cross-pollination by another variety. Preferably, 'Belle de Louvain', 'Early Prolific' or 'Reine Claude d'Althan' can be used for this purpose. The plums of 'Hauszwetsche' are medium to large, elongated to long oval and purple-blue to black-blue in colour. The flesh is greenish-yellow, juicy and pleasantly sweet. 'Hauszwetsche' is also known as Baking Plum; the plums are very suitable for use in cakes, but of course also for direct consumption. Picking time is from September into October. Hardiness zone 6.
