Together with 'Opal', 'Victoria' is probably the best-known plum variety. It is a moderately strong-growing tree with a slightly jagged, round, semi-open crown of 4-6 m in height. The branch position of the stem branches is often horizontal to slightly drooping, creating the broad crown. The tree flowers in the second half of April with lightly scented, white flowers. 'Victoria' is a self-pollinating variety, so even without a plum tree of another variety nearby, the tree bears fruit well. But to guarantee more fruit, it is best to plant a tree of 'Opal' or 'Reine Claude d'Althan' nearby. The plums of 'Victoria' are medium-sized, elongated to ovoid and red to bright pinkish-red in colour. The flesh is yellow-green, juicy and sweet-tasting. 'Victoria' generally produces many fruits, which are ready for picking around late August-early September. They are very suitable for direct consumption, in pies or for making into (industry).
'Victoria' was found as a chance seedling in a garden in Alderton, England, around 1840. Hardiness zone 6.
