Small tree with a round, loose crown and a height about 4 - 6 m. The twigs on the sunny side are brownish-red and sometimes thorny. The green leaves are lanceolate and 7 - 12 cm long, with a pointed tip and the leaf edge is finely serrated. An early-flowering cultivar that flowers in March and April. The flowers are 3 - 5 cm in size and turn from pink to almost white. They are single or arranged with 2 flowers together. Forms edible, peachy fruits. Solitary for parks and gardens. Prefers moist soil and a fairly sunny position. Reasonably resistant to wind. Hardiness zone: 6a
