Prunus sargentii 'Rancho' is an American selection with a remarkably narrow columnar to narrow vase-shaped crown. The crown of an adult specimen is scarcely 3 m wide at a height of approx. 8 m. The bark is reddish-brown. The obovate leaves are brown when they emerge but later turn green. The autumn colour is red. The flowers are larger and a darker pink than those of the species. Bears a great many flowers, approx. in mid-April. For narrow streets, residential areas and small gardens. Winter hardiness zone: 5b
