An American cultivar with a pyramidal, vertical manner of growth when young, later broad pyramidal. Height approx. 8 - 10 m, width to approx. 4 - 5 m. The young leaves emerge reddish but soon turn glossy green. The leaves of this cultivar fall off sooner in the autumn than they do of other cultivars and they then turn a striking red. Abundant white flowers in umbels. The brown fruits, measuring approx. 1 cm, do not appear very often. A lovely cultivar. Suitable as a solitary tree and along avenues and streets. Probably sensitive to fire blight. Tolerates air pollution well, like all the cultivars of Pyrus calleryana. Winter hardiness zone: 5a
