'Garden Brilliant' is a strong-growing large tree that will grow over 20 m tall. At a young age, the crown is broad columnar. Eventually, the crown will become narrow oval. The crown is densely branched and compact. The leaves are narrow inverted ovoid and have deeply toothed lobed leaf margins. In summer, the leaves are a glossy dark green. In winter, the withered leaves remain on the tree.
'Garden Brilliant' originated as a seedling of Quercus ×streimii 'Pungens', which is a hybrid between Q. pubescens and Q. petraea. This parent tree was probably pollinated by Q. robur, so 'Garden Brilliant' is a hybrid oak. The foliage seems to be more mildew resistant than that of Q. robur. 'Garden Brilliant' was found by Van Aart Nurseries of Oudenbosch and was introduced in 2013. Hardiness zone 5.
