Strikingly slender columnar tree growing to around 15 m tall and 3 m wide. The branches grow straight up creating a dense crown. The young twigs are grey-brown. The old bark is light to dark grey and its grooves form small rectangular blocks. The leaves are obovate and in general slightly larger than on Q. robur. They are glossy dark green, turning yellowish brown in autumn. The acorns are 2 to 3 cm in size and usually appear in pairs of one developed and one undeveloped fruit. They are around half-enclosed by the cupule which is covered with triangular scales. The tree originated from a cross between Q. robur ‘Fastigiata’ and Q. bicolor. The tree has inherited the good characteristics of each parent species: good columnar habit, high resistance to mildew and very wind resistant. It is a sister seedling of Q. x warei Regal Prince (‘Long’).
