Medium-size tree with a very regular, dense oval crown and a height of 7 to 10 m. The young twigs are glossy brown and slightly hairy, but rapidly become hairless. The old bark is brown-grey and peels off in small plates revealing the orange bast. The ovate, oval to obovate leaves are quite small and glossy dark green. The tree blossoms in September with clusters of inconspicuous green flowers, followed by seeds enclosed in wings. In autumn the leaf turns dark yellow to yellow-orange, only falling in late autumn. Its good resistance to Dutch elm disease and its good crown shape makes this cultivar worth considering as a park tree or avenue tree. It has a great adaptability to various soil types, tolerates drought, a lot of warmth and is wind resistant.
