Well-growing, medium-sized tree with a slightly irregular flattened spherical, semi-open crown. The height is about 6-8 m. The leaves are relatively large. The pale pink flower buds appear in April, from which white blossoms bloom. In eating apples, flowering is an additional ornamental feature. This hand apple can be harvested in August. The apples are regular in shape and flattened globular. The colour is greenish-yellow with a red blush or red stripes. The flesh is quite firm, very juicy and aromatic. The apple tastes pleasantly fresh sweet and sour. Great for fresh consumption, but also suitable for making apple sauce and apple juice. Has a fairly short storage life. 'Gravensteiner' is an old variety that originated near Åbenrå, Denmark, around 1760. Hardiness zone 6.
