'Rosy Veil' is a large shrub to small tree that can eventually grow about 5 m tall. As the crown, with wavy branches, grows wide fanwise, the tree grows significantly wider. The dark green leaves turn slightly bronze. The flowers are arranged in clusters of up to five flowers together. They open before the leaves emerge. Usually 'Rosy Veil' flowers around mid-March, but after mild winters the flowers can open as early as late February-early March. They are 2.5-3 cm in size and bright pink, light pink when blooming. The tree can flower very profusely and is then a spectacular sight. 'Rosy Veil' was introduced by Arboretum Kalmthout, Belgium, in 1988. The tree was found in the arboretum as a seedling of P. 'Kursar'. 'Rosy Veil' is an excellent tree for use in parks, large gardens and cemeteries. Hardiness zone 6.
