'Buda' is a medium-sized tree with a dense crown to about 12 m high, slightly higher under favourable conditions. The tree has a regularly shaped crown. The young twigs, especially on the sunny side, are red-brown. The old bark is grey-brown and remains smooth for a long time. Only later in life is the bark grooved. Too tips of the branches and twigs hang down slightly, gracefully distinguishing 'Buda' from the species T. mongolica. The leaves are quite small and heart-shaped to triangular. Unlike the species T. mongolica, whose leaves are usually lobed, the leaf edges of 'Buda' are serrated. The shiny dark green leaves turn yellow in autumn.
